The Parallels of Dr. Seuss & Breaking Bad

When thinking about the most recent topic for Sketch Dailies I couldn’t help but see the parallels between Walter White from Breaking Bad and Dr. Seuss’s Yurtle the Turtle.

Just as Walt did everything for his own selfish reasons with no regard to anybody else. So, Yertle built up his own selfish kingdom on the backs of his fellow turtles.

The selfish greed that both characters embrace blinds them to the possibility of their own downfall. With each new height, they both continue to want more and more, never satisfying their greedy hearts. And just as Jesse stood at the base of all of Walt’s achievements, Mac the turtle stands at the base of Yertle’s self-imposed kingship.
